Description
This Platz modified conservatory wood oboe is in great condition. It has just come back from the shop where most of the pads were replaced and the keys were adjusted so it plays great. It has been professionally pinned about an inch down from the reed receiver. It is very difficult to see the pin unless you are holding it in the right light. The repair work was very well done. The cork for the upper body joint tenon is slightly compressed and it does seal fine. All of the keys are in very good condition with little to no player wear. Please see pictures for details. The serial number on the oboe is “P346”. The bell engraving reads “Platz Elkhart, Indiana”. This is a modified conservatory oboe so while it does not have all of the extra trill keys or the left-hand F key of a full conservatory oboe, it does have the split D key and the F resonance key. Please see the photos for exact key work. It comes in a replacement case also in good used condition. No accessories are included. This oboe has an open, yet mellow sound and the intonation is good throughout the horn. It plays easily up and down the register.
