This “The Martin” Alto Saxophone is in absolutely mint condition. It has just come from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, repadded and completely relacquered with our custom vintage lacquer, which is darker than other modern lacquer to give the horn a more authentic feel. This horn is absolutely perfect and the engraving is still nice and sharp.
The serial number is 186223 making this a 1945-46 vintage alto saxophone. The serial number can be found on both the back of the body and the neck. The engraving on the bell is gorgeous and runs down the entirety of the bell and onto the front of the bow with the words “The Martin Alto Elkhart, IND-USA‘ displayed prominently. This alto saxophone comes with the original “Button Lock” neck that has no evidence of a pulldown. It also comes with a new case. A mouthpiece is not included. If you’d like to purchase a mouthpiece, please visit our mouthpiece page for vintage and modern mouthpieces.
This Alto Saxophone has the iconic, big, fat Martin sound. It has beautiful resonance in both the lower and upper registers and crisp intonation.
