Vintage 1935-1936 King Zephyr Series I Horn with Double Socket/Sleeve Style Neck and Triple Neck Ring

Description

This King Zephyr Series I alto saxophone is in excellent condition with 75-80% of the original lacquer. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and completely re-padded. There is evidence that a few dents were taken out of the bell at some point and the thumb rest was re-soldered back on. From the bell dent removal around the lip of the bell you will see that the bell lip has a very minor wave to it. As you can see in pictures there have been a couple of repairs on this vintage horn, if you have any questions on them please give us a call or send us an email.  There is some light evidence of dent removal on the leg side of the bottom bow and the bottom of the body. It also comes with the triple neck ring, a signature of the King Zephyr models. The serial number is “179693” making this a Zephyr Series I circa 1935-1936. The Art Deco engraving on the bell is gorgeous and the words “King Zephyr Model made by The H.N. White Co. Cleveland, O.” are prominently displayed.  This horn comes with the original double socket/sleeve style neck, which is in great shape with no evidence of a pulldown. There are some very minor dings in the side of the neck and they are extremely minor. It comes in the original “King” case that is still in good shape with light wear to the leather edges.  No mouthpiece is included. If you would like to purchase a mouthpiece please visit our mouthpiece page for vintage and modern mouthpieces.

This alto saxophone has that classic King Zephyr feel. It has a big, focused sound, excellent intonation, and superb overtones.
