This C.G. Conn Connqueror 26M VIII Alto Saxophone 1930’s Serial #279868 is in excellent condition with 90-95% of the original lacquer and light player wear across the horn. It has just come back from the shop where it was cleaned, adjusted, and re padded. There are no dents or dings in the horn, although there is evidence that a dent was taken out of the back of the body and a brace was re soldered. Please see the pictures for more details. The serial number is “M279868 makes this a vintage 1937-1938 instrument. On the back of the body is engraved “26M VIII PAT APP’D For A 279868 L”. The engraved letter “L” below the serial number denotes that the horn is in low pitch. Until the mid-1940’s, Conn made both high, and low pitched horns. This horn also has rolled tone holes. The engraving on the bell is beautiful with a ‘Naked Lady” portrait and the words “Connqueror Made by C.G. Conn Ltd Elkhart, Ind. U.S.A.” This horn comes with the original micro tuner, double socket/sleeve style neck. The neck is in great shape with no evidence of a pull down. The neck does have slightly more lacquer wear than the rest of the horn, approximately 85-90% original. It comes in a new replacement case. A mouthpiece is not included. This alto has a really big, warm sound with great intonation and plays easily up and down the register.
