Dizzy Gillespie Style Trumpet!

Description

This Bach Stradivarius Mt. Vernon Model 239 trumpet has a detachable bell and is in very good condition. It has 65-70% of the original lacquer with medium speckle lacquer wear over the entire horn. It has a serial number of 21448 which makes it a vintage 1961 horn. This is a very rare vintage horn. This unique looking trumpet has a detachable elevated bell which makes it quite rare along with a first valve trigger. The tipped up bell is often referred to as a “Dizzy Gillespie” trumpet.  The engraving on the bell reads “Stradivarius Model 239 Vincent Bach Corporation Elkhart, Ind. U.S.A.” On the back side of the second valve casing is engraved “V. Bach Mt. Vernon N.Y. U.S.A.”. It comes in a replacement case which is in very good condition. No mouthpiece is included with this horn.

This horn plays great! It has a lovely dark round Bach sound to it.  It is a little bit of a different sensation to hear the sound coming up higher than you do with a typical trumpet.  Even with the bell in the upward tipped position the horn is still very nicely balanced in the hand.  The valves have good action and the first valve trigger works well.  All in all this is a really fun horn to play and it sounds great!
